Sharp reshuffles management, forecasts profit

TOKYO (AP) ? Japanese electronics maker Sharp Corp. has named a new president as it reshuffles top management while seeking to restore profitability after reporting a record loss of 545.4 billion yen ($5.4 billion).

The Osaka-based maker of Aquos TVs said Tuesday that Kozo Takahashi, currently an executive vice president, will become its president and CEO as of June 25 as part of a business reorganization aimed at returning to the black in the fiscal year ending March 2014 after years of losses.

Sharp's main banks have extended it 150 billion yen ($1.48 billion) in fresh loans to help it meet a repayment deadline looming in September.

The company said it planned to beef up its loss-making liquid crystal display panel business as part of its alliance with South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co.

Bill Hader has announced he's leaving "SNL."

Another beloved cast member of "Saturday Night Live" is leaving the comedy sketch show. Bill Hader told The New York Times that he's leaving the program after the season finale this Saturday.

"It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point,? Hader said to the newspaper. ?It got to a point where I said, ?Maybe it?s just time to go.' "

NBC declined to comment.

Since joining the show in 2005, Hader has brought to life numerous characters on "SNL." Among his most popular are Stefon, an over-the-top, gay New York correspondent on "Weekend Update"; talk-show host Vinny Vedecci; and Dwayne Vogelcheck of the nearly incestuous "kissing family," just to name a few. And of course, there are his various celebrity impersonations, including that of Clint Eastwood, Julian Assange, Alan Alda, Al Pacino, James Carville and more.

Hader's exit isn't the only one to make news lately. On Sunday, NBC announced that head writer and "Weekend Update" host Seth Meyers would be succeeding Jimmy Fallon on "Late Night." That came only a day after Kristen Wiig, who left the show at the end of the last season, returned to host the program. Andy Samberg also left the show after last season.

"Saturday Night Live" airs its season finale Saturday at 11:30 p.m. on NBC. Ben Affleck is hosting, and Kanye West is the musical guest.

- I cannot go anywhere without my wife ending up knowing about it.
- My wife knows all my past relationships (she once joked to my sister that she knows who to suspect can bring a love child)
- All intimate topics are open for discussion.

It looks good to me because we end up getting closer and she feels safer to take risks with me even when she is not sure about the outcome (from experience)

What is your experience? Is this a safe strategy in this culture?

Absolute crap its like deliberately sticking your neck out to be beheaded. Marriage by itself has given women more advantage, which one be open communication again? am not saying cheat! Or commit adultery, But woman and men are not wired the same way and will not reason on the same line of thought, you will find out that 99 % of decisions taken in these types of marriages are women inclined, its the delilah tactics, then when a minor misunderstanding occurs of 25 years in the marriage the men will commit suicide, because weather you like it or not, no matter how long it takes there will be misrep or misunderstanding somehow some way along the line, then you would have been checkmated.

I don't know why it's usually the woman who pushes for an open (relationship) communication? Is it because its not too easy for a woman to have an affair without becoming emotionally involved, which will eventually become so obvious to her partner hence 'lets be open'? A man can have an 'ethical' affair without being emotionally involved and where his wife and family's interests would be carefully shielded.

While open marriage encompasses the above and having any one of the couple be intimate with a 3rd party so far the partner is informed.

Some may find open communication too extreme and embarrassing while others may find it reassuring and safe.
So, be it open or secret communication...COMMUNICATION is one of the major foundations to stable relationships.

PLease nairanders, a word of advice - Some information are better not opened up in marriages especially if there is no request for it. Example, you've been living happily with your spouse for 5 years and suddenly your new neighbor turns out to be your ex, you don't throw it up that you banged together for years before your marriage.
Communication in marriage should not be open rather guided by common sense. But please always be truthful to your spouse.

Mass. panel: No profanity on rapper's headstone

LYNN, Mass. (AP) ? Commissioners at a Massachusetts cemetery have said no to profanity on headstones.

Sonny Santiago, 23, was a rapper who died in a car crash in February. Commissioners at Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn this week unanimously rejected his family's request to inscribe his gravestone with a song verse that included profanity.

The commission became aware of the language when the company inscribing the 3-foot tall memorial submitted drawings to commissioners.

Pine Grove Cemetery regulations posted online state that "the cemetery office must approve all inscription work on monuments."

"We've never had a problem like this before," commission Chairman Arthur Dulong told The Daily Item of Lynn (http://bit.ly/10kALVH ).

City officials contacted the family about the inscription and they agreed to have the gravestone inscribed with a different, profanity-free verse from a song Santiago wrote, said Santiago's sister-in-law, Angela Ventola.

"Everything got changed," she said. "Those words are not going on."

The commission's dispute with Santiago's family is not over. The family added a 3-foot by 8-foot decoration made from mulch and rocks on his gravesite shaped like the number "1." Uno was his performance name.

The family has been asked to remove the decoration because it does not conform to cemetery rules.

Santiago's mother, Ana DeJesus, said the family will comply with the request ? but she's not happy about it.

"I feel like we paid for the spot," she said. "We want to be with him. It's not fair."

Sergio-Tiger duel takes center stage at Players

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP) ? The Players Championship is shaping up to be more than just a duel between Sergio Garcia and Tiger Woods.

There are 18 players within five shots of the lead, including current major champions Adam Scott, Webb Simpson and Rory McIlroy. The list also includes Lee Westwood, Henrik Stenson, Steve Stricker, Hunter Mahan and Zach Johnson.

The star-studded leaderboard should provide plenty of theater on the tricky Stadium Course. The third round begins Saturday morning.

"It's still stacked up with so many guys with a chance going into the weekend," Woods said.

Garcia and Woods are the main attraction, playing together in the final group on the weekend for the first time in nearly seven years.

Garcia made seven straight putts ? six of them for birdie ? on his way to a 7-under 65 in the second round Friday to match his best score at TPC Sawgrass.

That gave him a one-shot lead over Woods, who took advantage of the par 5s to post his second straight 67. Woods broke his own 36-hole record at Sawgrass by six shots and couldn't find much wrong with his game right now.

"I'm pretty pleased with where it's at right now," Woods said.

Garcia feels good about where he's at, too. He even seemed undaunted about being paired with Woods.

"I don't have to measure myself against anybody," said Garcia, who is at 11-under 133. "I know what I want to try to do, and any given day I can shoot a round like this and any other day he can shoot a good round and beat me. Like we always say, it's not a sprint, it's a marathon. So there are going to be good days and not so good days, so just got to enjoy the good ones as much as possible."

Woods and Garcia have played together on big stages ? Bethpage Black, Royal Liverpool ? with a big edge for Woods. They first were linked when the Spaniard was 19 and gave Woods all he could handle at Medinah in the 1999 PGA Championship. They were paired in the final round of the 2002 U.S. Open and the 2006 British Open.

But with the tournament only halfway over, it would be silly to consider it a two-man competition.

Westwood chipped in from 100 feet for eagle on the 11th hole and was atop the leaderboard until making pars on his last eight holes. He had a 66 and was two shots behind, along with Kevin Chappell (66) and Stenson, who had two eagles on the front nine in his round of 67.

Ryan Palmer, who learned Thursday night that one of his best friends died in a car accident in San Antonio, had two eagles in a round of 69 and was three shots behind. Defending champion Matt Kuchar birdied three of his final four holes for a 66 and was at 7-under 137, along with Scott, Mahan and Johnson.

McIlroy was coming off back-to-back bogeys when he chose to go for the green in two at the par-5 ninth ? he had planned to lay up each day. He hit the trees and got into a mess, making his third straight bogey. He rallied on the back for a 72 and was in the group at 6-under 138.

"I've made the cut, which I'm delighted about," said McIlroy, who had missed the weekend his three previous times. "But I am in there with a chance."

Woods won The Players in 2001, highlighted by that 60-foot putt on the island green described by NBC Sports analyst Gary Koch as "better than most." But he has only seriously contended twice, and he has failed to crack the top 20 eight times in 15 appearances.

"I haven't played my best here, but I've always felt that courses, even though it's been a while I've won on them, I've still won on them," Woods said. "I know how to get around this golf course. This course, more than most, really tests every facet of your game. You have to drive the ball well. You have to hit your irons in the correct spots, and if you don't hit your irons in the correct spots, you're going to have some really funky up-and-downs.

"It's trying to manage the ball in the correct spots, and I've done that the first two days."

Garcia did the same for two hours.

His streak began with a 15-foot birdie putt on the par-5 second. He stuffed his tee shot into 6 feet on the third, and then hit wedge to 8 feet on the fourth. He followed that with his two long birdie putts, made a putt just inside 15 feet for par on the seventh and ended his big run with the 40-footer on No. 8.

Garcia also is a past Players champion, winning a playoff in 2008.

"Fortunately for me, I've managed to play quite decent on this golf course," Garcia said. "So any good thing that you can get in your head, it's obviously positive and those kind of things always help. But it's a different year. We'll see if we can manage to do something similar."

Abbvie says Chief Scientific Officer John Leonard to retire

(Reuters) - AbbVie Inc's chief scientific officer will be retiring in the next few months and will be involved in the process of naming a successor, the pharmaceutical company said in a regulatory filing on Friday.

Chief Scientific Officer John M. Leonard, served in the Pharmaceuticals, Research and Development department for Abbott Laboratories before the branded pharmaceuticals business was spun off as AbbVie in November 2012. (http://r.reuters.com/zuj97t)

Leonard who joined Abbott in 1992, was also the Senior Vice President for AbbVie received $5.5 million as compensation for 2012.

AbbVie, which posted a strong first quarter on strong sales of its Humira treatment for rheumatoid arthritis, expects to launch new treatments for hepatitis C by early 2015.

AbbVie's shares closed at $45.01 on Friday on the New York Stock Exchange.
